How to search people, companies, and SHAB notices in this demonstrator. This is not an official SHAB website. The index is a proof of concept and may be incomplete.

SHAB, Zefix, and LINDAS

SHAB (Schweizerisches Handelsamtsblatt / Swiss Official Gazette of Commerce) is the federal gazette where commercial-register notices are published: new companies, officer changes, bankruptcies, and similar events. This demonstrator indexes those publications.

Zefix (Zentraler Firmenindex) is the Confederation’s public commercial-register search. Company pages can link to a Zefix extract when the seat and EHRAID identifier are known. Zefix is the live register; this index is not.

LINDAS (Linked Data Service of the Swiss Confederation) is an open linked-data catalogue. We use it for company metadata that SHAB notices often omit: CHE↔CH-ID aliases, legal form, seat, purpose, EHRAID, street address, and other registered names in German, French, Italian, and English. Some firms have no LINDAS record.

Search

On the home page, type a person name, a company name, or a Swiss UID (CHE number). Suggestions appear as you type. Use the pills to limit the search to people, companies, or both.

Quotes around a phrase search that exact sequence of words. Hyphenated names are matched flexibly (for example Meier-Müller and Meier Müller). Company search also matches other registered names from LINDAS (German, French, Italian, and English) when those are stored.

Results

Each hit shows the name, whether it is a person or a company, and—when stored—an address. Company hits also show the identifier, and may list other registered names under the caption. Open a row to see the full record and related notices.

People

A person page lists notices that mention that name, companies they are linked to through those notices, and a small relationship diagram.

Companies are grouped as still listed, no longer listed, or also linked, based on the latest SHAB notice we can parse—not the live commercial register. Click a notice date to open that publication. Click a notice count to filter the list below to those notices.

Companies

A company page shows the UID, other known identifiers, legal form and seat when available, an address when one is stored, and other registered names when LINDAS has translations. Register links (cantonal extract, Zefix) appear when the seat and EHRAID are known.

Management lists people found in SHAB notices for that company, grouped by the latest mention: still listed, no longer listed, or also linked. Large companies may show only the last ten years unless you search a name. Roles come from publication text, not from the commercial register.

The diagram on the page shows still-listed people and companies linked through SHAB notices. Use Show → Everyone to include no-longer-listed links. If there are many, it is a sample of recent notices, not the full management list.

Notices

A notice is a SHAB publication (class and number, for example HR02-…). The page shows the publication date, the body text, people attached in ItemStorage, and the company the notice is about.

On person and company pages, click a notice to preview it beside the list. Use n / p or the arrow keys to move between notices, and Esc to close the preview. “Back” returns to the person or company you came from.

Relationship diagram

The diagram connects the current person or company to still-listed neighbours via notices. Choose Show → Everyone for no-longer-listed links too. Large firms show a sample. You can change layout and depth, drag nodes, and open a full-window view. Hover an edge to see a role when one was parsed.

What this data is not

• It is not the official SHAB portal or a certified commercial-register extract.
• Officer status is inferred from gazette text and can be wrong or out of date.
• Addresses mix SHAB place names with LINDAS street lines when those exist. Some firms have no LINDAS record.
• People listed on a notice without an ItemStorage person record are omitted from “linked people”.
